LIBERTY — The Union County High School invitational golf tournament brought eight girls teams to the Liberty Country Club course on Thursday, including local squads from Connersville and Franklin County.

Richmond wound up winning the 18-hole event, finishing with a 347.

Nipping right at their heels were the Lady Wildcats from Franklin County, who posted a team score of 348.

Batesville was third with a score of 389, and the Lady Bulldogs were followed by the host Lady Patriots (401), Delta (410), Connersville (416), East Central (429) and Northeastern (495).

“Over all, the day went pretty well for us,” Franklin County coach Marisa Mears said, following her team’s runner-up finish. “We were able to improve our score by almost 10 strokes from Monday, which is the main focus for this team. I just want to see them improve from week to week.”

Maggie Brack led the Wildcats with a score of 86. She was followed by teammates Abby Orschell (89), Gracie Graf (97), Ashlan Hill (106) and Camryn Brewer (107).

Connersville got a 91 from Alexa Weber to lead the way. Following her were Sarah Griffin (96), Baylee Schneider (106) and Kelli Caldwell (123).

Tournament host Union County was paced by Haylee King’s round of 83. Next for UC was Sarah Schwab with a 92. Emily Treadway (107), Olivia Curry (119) and Morgan Ball (132) rounded out individual scoring for the Patriots.
