Vandals paint trail, cars

Connersville Police are investigating three cases of vandalism using yellow spray paint that all occurred Friday evening or Saturday morning.

Suzanna G. Johnson, 2701 Iowa Ave., took CPD Officer Kyle Miller to the northern end of the Nickel Plate Trail at 8:40 a.m. Saturday to show him the damage of yellow paint on the trail and wooden deck. 

Then, at 12:40 p.m. Saturday, Jeremy D. Kelley, 1518 Indiana Ave., called police to report his son’s vehicle had been vandalized with yellow spray paint. Kelley reported also a tire on his vehicle had been slashed, Miller said. 

Kelley’s neighbor told the officer a stop sign had also been painted as well as the pavement.

Tevor A. Dew, 3001 W. County Road 580-S., told CPD Lt. Ryan Sherwood his Chevrolet Cavalier also had received the yellow spray paint while parked at 1609 Virginia Ave.

Some of the painting included obscene messages or images.

Anyone with information on the person or persons who did the vandalism should report it to Connersville Police at 765-825-2111; ask for the detectives.
