Charlene A. Sparks

Charlene A. Sparks, 79, of Connersville passed away, Friday, June 8, 2018 at Carolton Manor in Connersville. She was born October 27, 1938 in Connersville to the late Harold Sturgeon and Hazel Thompson Sturgeon.

Charlene became the owner of The Mecca Café in Connersville in 1988. She worked at various clubs where she was the cook and bartender. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the VFW and the Eagles.

She is survived by her husband of twenty eight years, Randolph Sparks; stepdaughter Lisa (Mike) King; stepson, Randolph Sparks Jr.; brother, Richard Sturgeon; sister, Patricia Tanksley; three stepgrandchildren, Erin, Benjamin, and Nakita; nephews, Rich Sturgeon Jr., Bryan Peterson, Ray Peterson, and Rick Tanksley; nieces Connie Lay, Kathy Younts, great-nieces, Amanda Younts, Shannon Wood, and Krista Tanskley; great-nephews, Hunter Sturgeon, Gage Sturgeon, Chad Younts, Shawn Tanksley, James Lay, and Christopher Tanksley; and a great-great-nephew, Blake Wood.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, James “Bud” Cook, who passed away in 1985; a stepson, Jarrod Clay Sparks; two brothers, Harold Sturgeon, Christopher David Sturgeon; two sisters, Sandra Peterson and Marie Evon Sturgeon.

Visitation for Charlene will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 5:00pm until 8:00 pm at Urban Winkler Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Reverend Robert Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Orange North Cemetery.
