James M. Dake

James M. Dake, 85, of Liberty, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

He was born on September 24, 1932, in Centerville, Indiana, and is the son of James H. Dake and Lucille Wilson Dake. He married Ruth Ann Davis on October 4, 1952, in Everton, Indiana. They were able to share 65 years of marriage together. James was a member of Everton Southern Baptist Church. He had worked at Eddy’s Market as a meat cutter, and at Standard Grocery Store. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, collecting coins, and spending time with his family.

Along with his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Patty Sue Towler, of Liberty, Phyllis (Chris) Huffman, of Connersville, and Joyce Snoddy, of Milton; two sons, Cecil (Rebecca) Dake, of Liberty, and James Roger Dake, of Indianapolis; a brother, Donald “Joe” Dake, of Florida; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren with one on the way, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Virginia Willett; his mother- and father-in-law, George and Daisy Davis; a special brother-in-law, Jimbo Davis, as well as other brothers- and sisters-in-law; and two sons-in-law, Rick Towler and James Snoddy.

Visitation for James will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, at Urban-Winkler Liberty Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Thursday, April 19, at 11:00am, at the funeral home, with Pastor David Soper officiating. Burial will follow at Everton Cemetery.
