Planners asking about local housing needs

Employees of local businesses are being asked to complete a housing needs survey by the Eastern Indiana Regional Planning Commission.

EIRPC is conducting a detailed study of the housing needs in eastern Indiana with the assistance of Purdue University’s Center for Regional Development. The goal is to make sure housing is available to meet needs of the current and future workforce.

During the month of March, an electronic survey instrument will be available to record responses from area residents and employees. That link is purdue.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0D7MPNvE7lGAinH.

Leaders of businesses and other organizations are being encouraged to promote participation in the survey by sharing it with their employees and disseminating the survey as widely as possible. EIRPC hopes surveys will be completed by March 31.

Survey results will be shared with local planners. For organizations that have more than 100 employees, EIRPC will furnish a report tailored to that organization, detailing what kinds of housing its employees want.

In a letter to employers and other groups, Jeff Plasterer. EIRPC executive director, is quoted as saying, “... for local governments in the region to make good decisions concerning housing policy, they need your help with a good response rate to this survey.”
